Hello Pose & Play Parents & Followers!
We all want our kids to feel happy, calm, and confident. But sometimes, big emotions like anger or frustration can take over, leading to challenging behaviors like aggression. At Pose & Play Yoga, we believe that kids can learn to navigate these emotions with the right tools — and yoga is a powerful tool for just that.
Why Do Kids Experience Aggression?
Aggression in children often stems from frustration, overwhelm, or the inability to express their feelings. Whether it's a tough day at school or a difficult moment with friends, kids are still learning how to understand and communicate their emotions. Yoga provides a fun, safe way for them to practice self-regulation.
How Yoga Can Help Manage Aggression:
Through breathing exercises, movement, and mindfulness practices, yoga helps children:
Develop Self-Awareness: By tuning into their bodies and thoughts, children start recognizing their emotions before they escalate.
Release Energy Safely: Yoga lets kids work through pent-up energy in a positive way, which can reduce the tendency to act out.
Build Coping Skills: Yoga teaches simple tools like deep breathing and visualization, giving children alternatives to aggressive responses.
Improve Focus & Patience: Balancing and stretching postures encourage patience and concentration, both of which can reduce impulsive behaviors.
Try This Quick Calm-Down Pose at Home!
Here’s an easy exercise to try at home: the “Lion’s Breath.” This playful breathing technique can help your child release frustration and feel more centered.
Have your child sit comfortably, hands on their knees.
Take a deep breath in through the nose.
As they exhale, encourage them to stick out their tongue, open their eyes wide, and roar like a lion.
Repeat 3-5 times. It’s a fun, silly way to release tension and feel calmer!
